Many years ago. My sister and I sneaked onto a property in the Sydney suburb of Glebe to take some photos of an abandoned old building. Unfortunately I didn't go inside as it looked too scary.
The building which was called Hamilton, is on the grounds of The Abbey which is an old church property located in Glebe, Australia. It was converted into a restaurant but it closed many years ago. When that happened, the owners wanted to demolish the heritage listed house so they could build a conference centre and a block of flats. They wanted it so bad that they actually tore the roof off the building to hasten its destruction by the elements.
Luckily the City of Sydney council heard about it and took
them to court. They won and the owners were forced to install a brand new roof and protect the structure.
Over the years the building has been sitting silent. But now, it is completely rebuilt and has been sold. Soon to be some lucky bastards home.
The house has now been renamed Reussdale after it's designer and it looks to be around for a long, long time. Unfortunately the Abbey is still in it's abandoned state next door. I've included a few shots of it at the end of the large amount of photos you'll see in the read more. Warning, lots of images ahead.

I managed to convince someone of the merits of the NBN and its expense today.
Quite simply, 43bn...
